Northern Australia Work Requirement for Your 2nd Year
The Australian Work and Holiday Visa subclass (462) extension (2nd year) is available to people who have completed three months specified paid work undertaken after 18 November 2016 in regional Australia while on their first year Work and Holiday visa. Regional Australia is defined by specific postcodes. You should check the postcode list before starting specified work to ensure it is in an eligible area.
How to Get a Second Year Australian Visa?
- You have to be between 18 and 30 (inclusive) years old.
- You have complied with all the conditions on your first Work and Holiday visa.
- You have not previously held more than one Work and Holiday visa
- You have completed 3 months of specified subclass 462 work in Northern Australia while on your first Work and Holiday.
- You have not yet turned 31 years of age.
- You can provide evidence of this specified work. Download the Employment Verification Form 1464 here. This must be completed by all the employers you have done seasonal work for during your first 12 months in Oz.
Please note that if you have previously applied for, or attempted to apply for, a 2nd Australian Work and Holiday visa subclass (462), you need to tell us when submitting your application.

The processing time is between 3 working days to 3 weeks after your documents are with the embassy. If you are in Australia and your 1st year visa is about to expire - when we submit your extension application you will be granted a bridging visa until your application is assessed.
