Canada Opens More Visa Application Centers in China

The Canadian government has opened several additional Visa Application Centers in China. The new centers are opened in order to support the high demand of Canadian visas. Up to date the visa applications from China are more than half a million, about 15 % increase compared to 2016. The new visa centers are located in Chengdu, Hangzhou, Jinan, Kunming, Nanjing, Shenyang and Wuhan. Along with the previously existing in Beijing, Chongqing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong Canada aims to make connections with China stronger and help tourism business. China is the third biggest market after USA and UK for Canadian tourism. In 2016 Chinese tourists spent more than $1.4 billion in Canada. Other measures taken in recent time are the new daily flights from Shanghai to Montreal. Upcoming in 2018 a new payment method is planned to be enrolled. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is going to enable payments via UnionPay for more convenience. Combining all those changes it is pretty straight forward process to visit and spend some time traveling and sightseeing in Canada for Chinese citizens. Other proof of the significant Chinese interest in Canada came after many sources have confirmed large number of Chinese citizens buying expensive properties in big Canadian cities like Montreal and Toronto. This trend is leading to noticeable jump in property prices.

Prior to the new visa centers opening earlier this year the Canadian government announced significant increase in visas for immigrants. The upcoming 3 years plan aims to issue about 1 million immigration visas. In those 3 years the issued visas should be over 300 000 annually reaching 360 000 after 2020. This measure is taken to boost the Canadian economy having very urgent needs of workforce support as a result of the ageing population and low birth rate.
